Introduction
invoice.net.au("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit invoice.net.au or use invoice.net.au(the "Service").
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), where they apply to us.

- Invoice details you enter without signing in are processed in your browser and are not stored on our servers by default.
- We collect only what we reasonably need to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

The information we collect depends on how you use the Service.
Information you provide
- Account details if you sign in, such as your name, email address, and profile information supplied by an authentication provider.
- Communications you send to us, including support requests or feedback.
- Business or invoice-related information only if you choose to save it to an account feature, where available.

Invoice data entered without an account
When you use the invoice generator without signing in, the information you type into the form generally remains in your browser while you use the Service. We do not receive that invoice content unless you explicitly submit it to us through a feature that stores data on our systems.
Payment Instructions You Include in Invoices
If you add bank details, BSB and account numbers, PayID, or other payment references to an invoice ("Payment Instructions"), those details are your content. They may be visible to anyone who receives your invoice, PDF, or shared document.
We do not use Payment Instructions to process payments. Any payment made through a bank or third-party provider is governed by that provider's terms and privacy practices.
How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide and maintain the Service, including optional sign-in features.
- Send transactional messages such as magic-link sign-in emails.
- Protect the Service, investigate abuse, and maintain security.
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- Send service-related notices and, where permitted, product updates or marketing you can opt out of.
Legal Bases for Processing
Where the APPs or other applicable law require a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Your consent, such as when you opt in to marketing or choose to sign in.
- Performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- Compliance with a legal obligation.
- Our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Disclosure of Personal Information
We may share personal information with trusted service providers that help us operate the Service, such as hosting, authentication, database, and email delivery providers. They may only use personal information to perform services for us and must protect it appropriately.
We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer that is subject to equivalent privacy protections.
We do not sell personal information.
Overseas Disclosure
Some of our service providers may store or process personal information outside Australia, including in the United States or other countries. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the APPs.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, keep you signed in, and remember preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling some cookies may affect how the Service works, especially sign-in features.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You use the Service at your own risk and should keep your account credentials confidential.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Account Deletion
If you have an account, you may request deletion through available account settings or by emailing support@invoice.net.au.
We will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account except where we are legally required to retain it.
